Decoration Day Cemetery Service
is held annually on the second Sunday in August at 11:00 AM
  • The 2020 service will be August 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM
  • The 2020 featured family will be the McVicars.

Donations
Over the years, our Cemetery has been the beneficiary of many generous gifts which have been used for the general upkeep and beautification of the site.  As a result of this generosity, special projects such as the acquisition of additional property, the erection of new fencing and gates, the development of the Memorial Gardens, the placement of permanent park benches, the restoration of antique headstones and the planting of additional trees have all become reality.  Without such generosity, none of these special projects would have been possible.

To facilitate the donation process and to enhance the long term financial health of the Pakenham Union Cemetery, the Pakenham Union Cemetery Board of Trustees has approved the following policy:
  • Donations under $1000.00 will be placed in the Cemetery’s general account;
  • Donations over $1000.00 will be placed in a special trust account from which the Committee may only access the interest and never the principal;
  • The donor’s name will be printed at the first opportunity in the Decoration Day bulletin unless the donor advises otherwise; and
  • Income tax receipts will be issued for donations over $25.
Please make cheques payable to Pakenham Union Cemetery.

If you have any questions please contact J. Nightingale at:
(613) 296-6805 or pakenhamunioncemetery@gmail.com

Special Projects
  • Trees: There is a plan for the planting of additional trees. If you would like to participate by donating a tree, please let us know.
  • Benches: There is a planned third permanent bench for the property.
  • Bronze plaque: A bronze plaque will be added to the original Methodist corner stone located in the Memorial Garden
  • Margie Argue Walking Trail: The Mississippi Mills Active Transportation Committee is developing a trail system around Pakenham. They would like the trail to run along the back of the cemetery. Stay tuned for further details on this project.
