Heartfelt Thanks to our Volunteers

You make all the Difference

Picture

If you have been thinking of ways to help your community, we invite you to volunteer here.

We need two volunteers to serve as part of our Ministry and Personnel Team. Check here for details.
All congregations and pastoral charges must have a Ministry and Personnel Team (MPT). The Pakenham Pastoral MPT is made up of 2 members from Zion United, Cedar Hill, and 3 members from St. Andrew’s United, Pakenham. St. Andrew’s currently needs to fill two positions on this Team.

Members of the MPT have the following responsibilities:
  • meet quarterly or as needed;
  • be available for consultation and support for matters involving the pastoral charge paid staff, i.e. the minister, the music director, the administrator, and the cleaning staff;
  • oversee the relationship of the pastoral charge staff to each other and to people in the congregation;
  • regularly review the working conditions, responsibilities, and compensation of all pastoral charge staff;
  • make any recommendations needed as a result of these reviews to the governing body;
  • revise position descriptions of pastoral charge staff as needed;
  • conduct annual performance reviews of the pastoral charge staff; and
  • ensure pastoral charge staff make use of opportunities for continuing education that they have been given.

Qualifications:
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Human resource experience an asset.

Volunteering is a powerful and fulfilling way to contribute positively to your community while enriching your own life. By volunteering, you can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Volunteering can also be a pathway to acquiring new skills and gaining valuable experiences, which in turn enhance personal and professional growth. And, the sense of purpose and satisfaction derived from helping others fosters a strong sense of community and connection. Ultimately, the act of volunteering embodies the idea that collective efforts, no matter how small, can lead to positive change.

“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy.  You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day for the kind of community you want to live in.”

Christa Lowry, Mayor of Mississippi Mills

A volunteer's single action is like a stone thrown into a quiet lake. The stone has a direct impact of course but the ripples reach much farther. The dedication and commitment of our volunteers help get the immediate job done while inspiring others through example to pitch in and give of their time and talents.

We each bring something unique to the table and there is a place at
St. Andrew's for your particular experience and skills.

Maybe this is the year that you bring your special talents to a volunteer role at St. Andrew's? If you are interested in volunteering take at look the jobs list. There is lots of variety. If you don't see something you like maybe you have some ideas about something brand new that you think would make a positive difference.

We welcome you and your ideas.

Or perhaps you'd like to join a committee? Take a look at our Councils and Committees and contact anyone on a committee for more information about ways you can make a difference.

For now, please join us in thanking our volunteers for their service to our community.
