I discovered The United Church of Canada as a child, when a notice was sent to schools letting us know of a junior choir that was beginning at the local church.  There I discovered God and community and continued exploring my faith through Sunday School, Youth Groups and community organizations.

I heard the call while studying nursing. While not ready to begin this particular journey of faith, I continued to explore faith and discipleship through my work as secretary/treasurer of Almonte United Church and as office manager of Stewart House. Twenty years after hearing the first call, I heard the call again and began to discern my call through community and through studies. I was ordained in 2011 after completing my studies and while in appointment at Admaston Pastoral Charge; and settled in Admaston Pastoral Charge.

This relationship was over twelve years long and just recently ended. I am delighted to accept a call with Pakenham Pastoral Charge. It is my hope that I learn as much, if not more, from you as you learn from me. I look forward to our time together.
Peter is a performer, composer and choral arranger, bandleader and bandmember, accompanist, singer, actor, recording artist and music teacher. Locally, in these roles he has worked with the Mississippi Mudds, The Muddsingers Choir, the Town Singers, the West Ottawa Ladies Chorus, Stone Fence Theatre in Eganville, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carleton Place. And he has played the Merrickville Jazz Festival, the Stewart Park Festival and Ottawa Bluesfest.

He formed the Peter Brown Jazz Trio, Quartet and Quintet all of which played at important venues and festivals around our region.

Peter has composed and performed more than 300 choral arrangements of popular tunes, taught classical and improvisational piano, designed a “Piano Playing by Ear” course for adults and a piano course for children, both with the Ottawa Board of Education.

Peter has played with the Mumbo Jumbo Voodoo Combo, toured with former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, backed Texas blues guitar great Sherman Robertson, worked with legendary Canadian blues singer, Dutch Mason and backed Chicago blues saxophone legend A. C. Reed. He has performed with the Rockerfellas, the Boppin’ Blues Band, The Hurricanes, and the Drew Nelson Band. And he has opened for B. B. King and the Neville Brothers.

Nancy served as the Executive Director of the Lanark County Food Bank for 20 years. She was then the Medical Receptionist and Bookkeeper for Country Roads Community Health Centre for 2 years before moving to St. Andrew’s where she now holds the position of Pastoral Charge Administrator.

Nancy moved to Pakenham in the summer of 2013 and loves the area and the people in the community.

She has two grown sons - Tyler, who lives in Almonte, and Tom, who lives in Carleton Place.

She is also a proud Grandmother to Emmett Tyler Forbes, born June 12,
2018.
